The ASUS Eee Pad Slider is one of the few tablets that includes a physical keyboard. ASUS
will have two tablets that come with physical keyboards, one if the Eee Pad Slider and the other one is
the Eee Pad Transformer. The main difference between the two tablets is the setup of
the keyboard. The Eee Pad Slider has a "slide-out" QWERTY keyboard (the keyboard and the tablet are
inseparable) and the Eee Pad Transformer comes with a removable keyboard. Some people prefer to
always have the keyboard attached to the tablet, but others like to have the option to remove the
physical keyboard when they don't need it. The Eee Pad Slider is also heavier that the Eee Pad
Transformer, mainly because of the keyboard weight difference (2 pounds vs 1.5 pounds).
The Eee Pad Slider has a 10-inch touchscreen that slides up to reveal a physical QWERTY
keyboard. It runs Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) operating system and packs a dual-core Tegra 2 processor.
It also features 1280 x 800 resolution display, a mini HDMI and mini USB ports, as well as a microSD card
slot. The Eee Pad Slider has dual cameras, a 1.2 mega-pixel front-facing camera and a 5 megapixel
rear-facing camera which includes an LED flash.
Bluetooth and 802.11n WiFi are your built-in wireless connections, and it'll have 3G at
some point later. The storage memory is either a 16GB or a 32GB SSD (Solid State
Drive).
The Eee Pad Slider will have its own custom Asus skin called, "My Way", which
accesses a number of themes pertaining to music (think Apple's cover flow), photo slideshows, and video
streaming. The video streaming app is really nice, as it can connect to any DLNA device in your
living room, which, with a good WiFi connection, can stream video content in
1080p.
