Archos 7 Home Tablet Full
Review
Archos 7 Home Tablet is a low cost tablet designed for the
whole family. It's perfect for news, weather, email, web browsing, videos and
photos. The Archos 7 Home Tablet is pretty light and it measures 8 x 4.2 x 0.5-inches. It is quite
easy to hold it up in your hand, to read an e-book or surf the web, it's noticeably lighter
to hold up than the 1.5-pound iPad.
It
comes with a resistive touchscreen, but the display is matte unlike the other Archos tablets which have a
glossy finish. The resolution of the 7-inch Home Tablet is 800 x 480, the same as the Archos 5. At this
resolution you need to zoom out to see the full size of some websites. This tablet has a 7-inch resistive
touch screen, a 600MHz ARM 9 processor, and 8GB of internal memory.
The Archos 7 Home Tablet plays all video codecs up to 720p, including MKV, DivX, Mpeg2, H264, MP4,
WMV (non-drm) it plays all audio codecs including AAC, AC3, Ogg Vorbis, Flac, Mp3, WAV and WMA (non-drm).
And also, it connects to any Windows, Mac or Linux computer and is recognized as an external hard drive
or external USB flash drive, to copy and paste all the multimedia files or Android .apk application files
that you want onto it.
The
speakers are quite loud and are perrforming really well. It makes video watching and music listening a
pleasure. Horizontal viewing angles were very wide; three people sitting side by side could
view the Archos 7 Home Tablet without noticing color distortion. Vertical angles are a little
narrow, but you can still see the screen with no problems.
The Archos 7
Home Tablet does not compare with the iPad or Samsung Galaxy, but you still get a very good value for
your money. For under $200 you get a nice tablet, you can browse the web, read eBooks, watch movies or
create a photo slideshow. The Archos 7 is a great option for people who want a very nice personal media
player with some internet functions.
