The Viliv S5 is a
powerful mini tablet that is comparable to a netbook computer and it is developed by a Korean company. It
is a truly portable device, it fits in a large jacket pocket and it's easy for you to take it
anywhere. The Viliv S5 features a Windows XP operating system, a Z520 CPU 1.33GHz, a 32 GB
SSD (solid state drive) and the battery lasts for about 7-8 hours. At 0.96 pounds, the Viliv S5 is a
bit hefty in your hands, but it's not too bad taking in consideration all the features that it packs in
such a small device.
The S5 has a
very quick boot time, of about 3-5 seconds when it is in standby mode. It is a very nice media player,
great for watching movies and listening to music.
The resistive
touchscreen is quite responsive (even though is resistive and not capacitive - which means that is
pressure-based). It's high resolution LCD offers a very crispy image and good web browsing. The
nicest feature is the length of the battery which lasts for about 6-7 hours. The keyboard pops out by
pressing a conveniently placed button on the right. The GPS works fine, but you need to get your own
navigation software at an additional cost.
The USB, headphone and Multi I/O ports are enough in a device of this size, because between them, you
could plug in a keyboard, monitor (with adapter) and speakers. In this respect, the Viliv could make for
an extremely portable home-to-office computer.
Dual
stereo speakers are embedded toward the top of the screen. Volume controls and a standard headphone jack
are on the top edge of the S5, and a closable door for USB ports runs along the left, and a sliding power
toggle like the Sony PSP's is on the right.
With the S5 you can enjoy wireless through Si-Fi Bluetooth or even GPS (which is optional). You can
experience multimedia playback just like on your desktop, on the go. The Viliv S5 is a great tablet
for entertainment or productivity that is really portable.
